Denae

Denae was going through a very difficult time in her life. She had a little toddler and was battling depression that had started as post-pardum and seemed to be getting worse. She was also having difficulties in her marriage. Denae’s depression got quite severe and her case manager suggested that she visit Fresh Start Women’s Foundation for some guidance and support.
She came to Fresh Start as was welcomed with open arms. She started meeting with Merle, one of Fresh Start’s Empowerment Specialists – who worked with her to get a plan together for how she was going to change her life. Denae loved coming to the Women’s Resource Center – she was able to drop off her little boy at Child Watch and focus on herself for once. Denae typically rides her bike to her job at McDonald’s because she doesn’t have a car, but she often takes the bus to Fresh Start because its located right on the bus line.
Denae not only continued to meet with Merle, she also started coming to many classes at Fresh Start. She went through a wardrobing seminar and learned how to dress professional through Fresh Start’s Self Esteem services.
Denae continues her job at McDonald’s so that she has the flexibility to be home for her son in the afternoon because he is facing some learning disabilities. But she wants more. Denae is receiving guidance and help from Fresh Start to start her college career with online courses. She is looking into what path she wants to take to find a career, not just a job. She continues to work with Merle and keep herself focused on the road ahead.
Denae no longer lives in a cloud of fear and despair because she knows that she can come to Fresh Start and find the help she needs.
